The Texas Granny Switch

Part Two of Granny's Big Trip outside the box!

When I got the news that I'd be sent a plane ticket to spend a week in Texas at the GeekBrief.TV studio I was so excited. And really hoped to also make time to meet with another video podcasting family Dave & Kat Curlee from CookingWithKat.

Soon we decided that I'd be "Switched from Cali & Neal's home to the Curlee home for a Saturday night and Sunday morning for church.

Again I was so entirely blessed to stay with folks I knew from their podcast and our relationship on twitter and facebook yet had never met in person. The Curlee's are parents to two precious little girls Jayna and Jillian.

I felt like I'd known these sweet folks all my life. Little Jayna even gave up her bedroom for "Granny Martha" to have a place to sleep.

We spent some time driving around the area, and Dave showed me the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium and Ballpark at Arlington.

To top off our visit besides touring more of the DFW area and taking my first trip to an IKEA store we actually shot a Cooking With Kat show. This was too much fun to be involved in yet another fun video podcast.

Here is the episode we made together.. hope you enjoy

Good job ladies at making a wonderful meal for your family and friends. I need to watch some more videos of Cooking with Kat. I just graduated from college which didn't allow me much time or expense to experiment in the kitchen. Thank you Cali, Neal, Kat, and the rest of your family for making this trip for Martha to happen. I've enjoyed hearing about the big trip and how "strangers" can be so welcoming of another person into their home. If only the whole world shared this kind of community with one another.

Here's to giving you more comments, Hi Martha,
I am a Mac freak too although I have to deal with that other OS on occasion and Linux is interesting, I will stick with Mac to get any serious work done.
Hey I love your blog and the stuff about your trip is way cool, so really you made the rounds of the nice folks doing "new media", neato.
I haven't seen the "Cooking with Kat" episode here yet, I must move to a faster Mac for that - 8p , but I will watch it soon, I am a video person and I am interested in what you "new media" guys are doin'.

Praise the Lord and pass the parmesano

Blessings, Nathan
